It's sounding a lot like Gary Pinkel will grab ex-Nebraska wide-out commit Curtis Carter. He is a 4-star Rivals player, and is a burner.

Deep(ish) Thoughts With A Fastidious Hat - 12/6/09 E-mail

- Nebraska fought well against Texas. I tip my fastidious hat to you, Nubs. With their performance it might very well be time for Mizzou to rethink their defensive mindset. Nebraska has no offense whatsoever and still almost beat a Texas team that’s heading to the National Title game. A lot of that has to do with Ndamukong Suh but it’s clear that you beat the powers in the South with defense. Texas was lucky to win that game.

- Speaking of Ndamukong Suh, if you don’t believe he’s the best player in the country there is something seriously wrong with you. He won’t win the Heisman, but he will be the number one overall pick in the NFL Draft. It doesn’t come with the same clout as a Heisman but it comes with a shit ton more money.

- “Holy shit Ndamukong Suh this is just fucking ridiculous marry my daughter and teach my son to be a man” - edsbs

- Most people believe that if Texas lost then No. 4 TCU would have been in the National Title game, but I think it’s a pretty good bet to say that Cincy would have leapfrogged the Horn Frogs (see what I did there?)  thanks to the computers’ love for the BCS team and the Bearcats’ come from behind win over No. 15 Pittsburgh in Steel Town.

- I have a feeling Florida will end up ranked ahead of undefeated Boise State. Just a feeling.

- Simply brilliant. Buy Tebow's tears.

- I have no idea why, but I can’t fucking stand Pete Carroll. He just strikes me as a total douchebag who would totally try and steal your girlfriend/fiancé/wife. So I’m pretty happy that USC sucked (by USC’s standards) this year. That loss to Arizona was just fucking delish. 5th place in the Pac-10 lolz.

- Northwest Missouri State is heading to their fifth straight D-II Championship Game. I really have no idea what needs to transpire for a team to jump divisions, but that school has been fucking cleaning up and should probably jump up to 1-AA. Good job Bearcats.

- Watching live football at two in the morning is fucking weird. (Wisconsin vs. Hawaii)

- The Mizzou basketball team has scored more than 50 points in the first have in four straight home games as they fucking took it to the Oregon Ducks 106-69.

- There are five undefeated teams in college football to end the season. Fucking playoffs, let’s goddamn do it.

- The regular season is (basically) over. Play it off Keyboard Cat feat. Usher.

We've touched on a few positives with Mizzou going to the Texas Bowl over the Insight Bowl.

1). Location in Houston in one of the best NFL stadiums. Alumni and recruits love this. More on this in a minute.

2). ESPN over NFL Network. Yeah, I'll roll with ESPN each and every time.

3). Both are stand-alone bowls. Nobody else is playing during that time.

4). Better opponent. Navy is 8-4 going in to the Army game, and is nationally known. Minnesota is a program at 6-6 that nobody outside of the frozen lakes really cares about.

Back to the recruiting, and really the #1 reason I love the Texas Bowl over the Insight: Gary Pinkel can bring recruits in for an unofficial visit to bowl practices. With the talented recruiting base in Texas, most, if not all, regional recruits will be at Reliant Stadium, one of the NFL's best stadiums, to check out Mizzou's practices. Of course, no one can schedule an 'official visit' to the bowl game (they can buy tickets and watch), but bringing a recruit in to an NFL palace to check out your bowl team has to have a big 'sold' sign all over it. You have to think- there is no school going on on New Year's, or even that week before, so the practices should be full of recruits.

How many recruits would we have in Phoenix? Answer: None. Texas? Yeah, a hell of a lot.

Tigers May Get Snubbed to the Texas Bowl E-mail
Written by Big Head

In what's become the latest of great Tigerboard meltdowns, the Trib's Mizzou guru, Dave Matter, says the Tigers may get snubbed by the Insight Bowl selection committee in favor of Iowa freakin' State.

[...] Insight Bowl spokesman Tony Alba confirmed on Wednesday that Missouri and Iowa State are “squarely in the middle our picture,” though no final decision will be made by the bowl’s selection committee until a conference call on Sunday, which is scheduled for 1 p.m. CST, Alba said.

Yep, Iowa fucking State. Despite the 8-4 record and the head to head win. Iowa State. Despite having two major cities and airports with non-stop flights to Phoenix and attendance almost doubling Iowa State, Iowa State may go to the Insight, which would more than likely relegate Mizzou to the Texas Bowl against Navy, who's already committed to the bowl. That isn't horrible. Why you may ask?

1). The Big 12 pools all bowl money. Mizzou loses out on ZERO cash overall.

2). Mizzou recruits Texas like crazy. The Texas Bowl is in Houston. Yeah, that could work out ok, especially for Texas alums.

3). It's a national broadcast on ESPN, not the NFL Network.

4). Like the Insight, it's another 'stand alone bowl' (ie Nobody else is playing at that time). 2:30p central on New Year's Eve.
