Props to Big12sports.com's Wendell Barnhouse for the great nuggets in his Mizzou preview.
The first seven games will be crucial. Missouri opens the season in St. Louis against Illinois, a team that has lost four consecutive games to the Tigers. Missouri's last non-conference game is a dangerous Friday night visit to Reno to play a solid Nevada team that almost won in Columbia last season. The Tigers open Big 12 play with a Thursday night game against Nebraska, then plays at Oklahoma State and hosts Texas. A 2-5 or 3-4 start to the season could wreck Mizzou's confidence.
I was pretty drunk by the end of that 69-17 win over Nevada last year, but I still realize that 52pts doesn't equate to "a solid Nevada team that almost won in Columbia last season.". The logic that 'Mizzou has beat Illinois the past four so it definitely can't happen a fifth time!' is great too. Keep up the stellar work, Wendell.
TigerBoard is all over this.
