Well, the preview to this one will be simple; beatdown. Mizzou finally takes on a patsy in Illinois State. Here’s what you need to know…

-Illinois State is from the Gateway Conference, possibly the strongest I-AA FCS conference in all the land. Pillage the village!

-The Gateway Conference has already pulled off one upset of a Big XII team this year (Northern Iowa over Iowa State). The Gateway has FCS powers Northern Iowa, Southern Illinois (defeated N. Illinois from MAC last week), Western Illinois (hung with Illini two weeks ago), Youngstown State (hung with Ohio State for awhile), Missouri State, and Indiana State. Western Kentucky jumped to I-A this year after winning the national title in 2002 from the Gateway. North Dakota State and South Dakota State, two powers in I-AA are switching conferences to join the Gateway next year. Illinois State is ranked #14 in the latest poll.

-Illinois State has produced a couple of draftees in the past few years; Boomer Grigsby (Chiefs) in 2004 and Laurent Robinson went in 3rd round last year. They don’t have much talent left on this year’s squad and are banged up big time.

-My mom went to Illinois State before deeming it “boring” and decided drugs and rock n’ roll were the wave of the future and headed to SIU with her brother (Sleezy’s dad). I lived in Peoria, next to Bloomington-Normal where Illinois State is located, and it was ok. Bloomington-Normal sucked, except for the fact that they had a Qdoba.

Cover your ears because the cannon will be as loud as I am with your girlfriend. Chase Daniel will toss for over 350 before the fourth quarter begins. Expect Chase Patton and Jimmy Jackson (hell even Goldsmith) to get lots of PT in this one. T-Squared should easily get 150yds on these fools. Defense shouldn’t give up more than 14 points to Illinois State. And that should be the scrubs doing that. Jeremy Maclin, Tommy Saunders, and Will Franklin will destroy the defense. Maclin will run a punt back for six.

Should be an easy warm up before the Fuskers come to town 10/6. Which by the way, make sure you check out friend of the family, Huskerh8er for all your Husker hating ways. Great blog, and another Mizzou fan that is stuck in the hole we like to call ‘Nebraska’. Expect a lot of Nebraska hating, and maybe even an interview from Lawrence Phillips.
