After Oklahoma dropped yet another bowl game (after talking vast amounts of trash during the weeks leading up to the game) I got to thinking about the total number of bowl wins for all Big 12 teams during the last four years. As great as OU has been the past four seasons (I'm actually not saying that sarcastically), only the Texas Longhorns have had more bowl victories. The list is as follows:
# of Bowl WinsTexas 4Missouri 3*kansas 3Texas Tech 2Nebraska 2Oklahoma State 2Oklahoma 1Colorado 0Kansas State 0Iowa State 0Baylor 0Texas A&M 0
I add the asterisk next to Mizzou's name because anyone who watched the '06 Sun Bowl knows the refs snatched that one from the Tigers. I dare anyone to tell me otherwise. If someone wants to make a case for their team to have an asterisk then I'm all ears.
I don't bring this up to try to argue that Mizzou's program has been somehow superior to OU's. That would be exactly like the kUchebags that talk trash about the Orange Bowl. I would honestly rather play in the games that the Sooners are getting to and lose than win the ones we've been going to.
But I think the fact that there is only one other Big 12 team that has won more bowl games than Ol' Mizzou over the last four years is something that Tiger fans should be a little bit proud of. Again, not bringing this up to shove it in OU fans' faces—although the nickname "Big Game Bob" probably should take a hiatus until he actually wins another bowl game. Just proud of our Tigers.
