There has been some bitching and moaning from kU fans and a few Mizzou fans alike about the students storming the court last night. I wasn't going to address the issue because the whole discussion is ridiculous. But one of the KC Star's bloggers did a good job of breaking down the issue:
To whom it may concern:
Nobody is a bigger KU basketball fan than I am. Nobody wanted to win more than I did. Nobody knows KU’s history better than me – at least in my opinion. So, if anyone should object to some other team storming the court, I’ve got at least as much right as anyone, including YOU, to complain.
In my opinion, the reason MU fans stormed the court was due to many things.
1) They hadn’t beaten KU the past two seasons at home and they had only won at home against KU two of the last seven.
2) This kept them undefeated at home (15-0).
3) The win prevented them from a loss in the first game after being ranked.
4) They came back from 14 behind at halftime.
5) They won on a last second shot.
If those aren’t good enough reasons to storm the court in YOUR opinion, then YOU have something wrong with YOU.
These are 18, 19, 20 year old kids. They don’t know the meaning of the word – restraint. They are thrilled and simply having fun. Who are YOU to tell them what they should do. Who are YOU to tell them they can’t have fun and celebrate in their own arena! Talk about arrogance!
