Rock M Nation broke the news earlier today that blue chipper Sheldon Richardson was "done with his recruiting." That sounded pretty promising but after everything we've been through with this kid I still wasn't totally convinced. I thought that could mean something like "I'm done with my recruiting, I'm going to Miami."
But that's not the case. Sheldon has told Mizzou players and coaches (and opposing coaches) that he will be playing college football in Columbia next season. He also had these encouraging words for InsideMizzou.com on Sunday: "I’m going to stay home and be a difference maker for the University of Missouri. This is already becoming a national powerhouse team, I want to be one of the reasons we bring a national championship to Columbia, and I believe we will during my time as a Tiger." How big is this? According to Richardson, HCGP got teary eyed after Richardson broke the news to him. I know GP's gotten much more in touch with his emotions over the past four years, but I don't remember him crying when Gilbert Moye announced he'd be joining the Tigers (or even Blaine Gabbert for that matter).
I don't want to create too much hype for this kid considering most of us have never seen him play (hopefully we've learned our lesson after the Coultergeist), but you know all the talk about how Mizzou needs to recruit bigger, more physical players on the lines to compete with Oklahoma and Texas? This would seem to be a step in the right direction.
