So much for that fast start out of the gates in conference play. The photo in Big Head's post below summarizes Mizzou's evening in Ames just about perfectly. Missouri showed little focus throughout the night and squandered numerous scoring chances around the rim. Only Iowa State's own incompetence kept the Tigers close, and Mizzou miraculously trailed by only seven points at the half.

The less said about this game the better. With the loss the Tigers fall to 1-1 in conference with Kansas visiting Paige Mizzou Arena on Saturday night. Everyone will be expecting a KU blowout, so MU will probably keep it close or win. Yes, I said win. No, I have not been huffing glue. Will it happen? Probably not. But who else is going to beat those suckas (before the second round of the NCAA Tournament, I mean)? Might as well be us.

As for tonight, bottom line: it sucked. The euphoria of the Texas win seems to have been just a tease, and this team has a looong way to go before it can be considered a legitimate contender to the Big XII's best. Until the defense and rebounding improve these boys ain't going anywhere in March. I'm not giving up on them just yet (I guess that's obvious, I picked them to beat Kansas) but it's sure frustrating to watch these dudes sometimes.

That's about all I've got tonight.

But remember folks, while it's often tough to be a Mizzou fan, it could always be worse.

See you Sunday for my next post.

Until then come back here often (of course) and visit this site for all the Mizzou bloggage you can handle.
