But Maclin's speed and playmaking abilities could be an important weapon against Oklahoma's leaky special teams in Saturday's Big 12 Championship Game. All he needs is the opportunity.
The Sooners rank 108th nationally in kickoff coverage, allowing an average return of 24.82 yards per kick. They have allowed a nation-worst four kickoff returns for touchdowns, most recently a 90-yard return for a score by Oklahoma State's Perrish Cox in last week's game against the Cowboys.
Bob Stoops isn't known to lack an ego, and usually puts the ball in the other team's playmaker's hands to test the defense. Here's to this Jeremy Maclin guy doing something. I think he'll be ok.
