MU tops ISU in battle of also rans E-mail

Sayonara, moe-rons. The guy on the right can stay.
If you didn't watch last night's ballgame when you saw the headline "MU beats ISU in two overtime thriller" you'd probably think this was a pretty good game. In reality, if you were watching, you would have seen two teams desperately trying to give the game to each other.

I've said repeatedly that you should never question a conference win, and we certainly don't question this one. The win nominally keeps Missouri alive for the NIT, at 16-14, with a roadie at Oklahoma on Saturday before the conference tournament next week in its rightful home of Kansas City.

There was a lot of good last night, and a lot of it will be returning for next year. DeMarre Carroll (above; no, that's not a photo from the game last night, although the crowd didn't appear much more full on television) played his ass off and showed he's capable of carrying the team on his back. He's really going to be fun to watch as a team leader next year on two healthy, and hopefully bullet-free, ankles.

Leo Lyons, if he can resist the temptation of turning pro (hard to type that with a straight face), was drilling his jump shot and looked as aggressive as I can remember. He will should be back and better than ever in 08-09.

Zaire Taylor's time sitting out is almost over.

Keon Lawrence was hitting shots and driving the lane. More of this to come for sure.

But the best part about last night, Darryl Butterfield is almost gone. You've got to love that if you're a Tiger fan. Good days are ahead for Mike Anderson's Tigers.
