Ok, I won't rehash the entire game. We all saw it. When I say 'all' I mean everyone in the nation. I can't believe how much pub this game got, and everyone had imput on it. So, here's an abridge version, with some different thoughts at the end.-Chase Daniel secured himself a seat in New York with his play on Saturday night. He must have another great game against OU, which has looked average since we played them, to grab the Heisman.
-Jeremy Maclin was outstanding once again. One more cut to the left and we're talking about another TD off a return. Kansas' special teams were horrendous, which helped us out A LOT.
-DaNario Alexander gets your Shakespeare's Pizza Playa of the Week. Mini-TO went off against the Squwaks (8 catches, 117yds, and a TD). That's the best he's looked since the Illinois game. You could easily make a case for Chase Daniel, but come on, how much pizza does he really need in a season?
-And yes, we are #1 in the BCS and the polls. A-freakin'-mazing. I never thought I'd live to see it. Props to Pinkel for doing a great job, and it's going to be crazy when we beat Oklahoma on Saturday. OU has gone from scary good, which we hung with, to pedestrian since. We'll have a lot to talk about this week regarding OU, so let it sink in that we are atop the BCS and one game away from playing for the National Title.
Props to the guys over at Kansas Football- It's Business Time for putting up with me for 10 days. It's rare that you will find anyone from Kansas that can put letters together to create words, and a huge plus is the fact that they can actually read (I think the stats are probably somewhere around less than 5% of Kansans can read...and they move to Missouri). You'll notice a few of their comments here and there on different posts lately, and the smack talk has really yet to cease, which is fine by me. Nice work gents. Basketball season started on Sunday.
And on to the rants...
-Thanks for KU playing a schedule full of cupcakes and having Mizzou expose them on national television. We are now the #1 team in the nation. Kansas still sits fairly high in the BCS, which brings me to this point; I like the BCS. I always have, and there will always be a team that has a case, but the BCS is usually spot on. I would love to see a rule though, that you must at least win your division or conference (looking at you Big 11/Pac 10) to go to the BCS Title game. If both Mizzou and West Virginia slip, Ohio State and Georgia have a chance to move up. Georgia didn't even win their conference to play for the SEC Championship. Nebraska did this when they were routed by Miami a few years ago in the BCS Championship game. But the Huskers played before the extra BCS game was added. I will not complain that Georgia goes to a BCS game, because they do deserve it, just not the title game.
-The Heisman has to come down to Darren McFadden, Tim Tebow, and Chase Daniel at this point. McFadden may be the best pro prospect out of the group, but he doesn't deserve the Heisman. He's sucked in several big games this year. Tebow? No. He is as overrated as they come. He only runs the ball because Florida doesn't have a running back, so the 20 rushing/20 passing TD record thing is absolute bullshit. And since Tebow doesn't have the chance to lose Heisman stock in a conference championship game, Chase Daniel stands to be the one to gain or lose the Heisman this weekend. If Mizzou wins; he wins. If we somehow get our asses handed to us and Chase comes with several picks, he's out and Tebow wins. Pathetic.
