Lew Perkins was apparently pretty cranky with the Mizzou students that decided to rush the floor on Monday night. That's according to 810 WHB in Kansas City. Here's a nice recap of what was discussed via Tigerboarder Eyeoftiger:
Alden/Perkins Incident Recap
(According to 810)
1. Started before their spat in the tunnel earlier in the night.
2. Lew Perkins was livid that the fans stormed the court, shouting and ranting at Mike Alden.
3. Lew believed that Missouri coaches encouraged fans to come out on the floor.
4. Bill Self was contacted before and after the game and said there was no issue.
5. Missouri routinely contacts opposing teams to go over exit plans in the case of fans on the court.
6. Missouri has interviewed refs and coaches to determine the validity of Perkins' rant.
7. University of Missouri believes that a player was on a chair, a coach tried to get the player out of that place, and another player, and Lew thought the coach was encouraging the students.
8. Lew Perkins thought T.J. Cleveland was a student approaching and threatening his players, when T.J. was actually going over to them to help get them off the court.
I wonder if Lew would've gotten pissed at his own fans if he'd been athletic director in Mangino's first few years when beaker fans regularly tore down the goal posts after every victory over semi-mediocre opponents.
What a little bitch. As one Tigerboarder put it "If I'd have known storming the court would piss the beakers off this much, I'd tell our students to do it every time."
