This morning at the NFL Combine Jeremy Maclin took a tumble while trying to adjust to a pass thrown by Division III quarterback Jason Boltus. Here's the details from the KC Star:
Missouri all-American wide receiver Jeremy Maclin had a scare on Sunday morning when he took a spill at the end of running a pass pattern during passing drills at the NFL Scouting Combine.
Maclin, running a deep sideline out, got tangled up while adjusting to a throw by quarterback Jason Boltus, a Division III quarterback from Hartwick.
Maclin had to be assisted off the field by two officials, and it appeared to be getting treatment on his left leg.
After several minutes sitting on a table, Maclin walked off the injury, and he eventually returned to the passing drills. However, after hauling in a pass on a deep down and out pattern, he still appeared to be walking gingerly.
We've known all along that J-Mac was susceptible to injury. How many times over the course of his career did we see him hobble off the field only to come back in moments later and blow by a helpless Big 12 defender? Only problem is the speed of his competition will probably catch up to him now that he's trying to blow by several former All-Americans as opposed to the one or two he usually faced in college.
Before he was shaken up this morning he ran the 40-yard dash and was clocked in at a 4.4. Also a bit disappointing considering we've always heard he runs a 4.29. Based off what I've seen of J-Mac, I gotta think that was just a bad run. He might not quite run a 4.29 but he's faster than a 4.4 receiver.
Oh well, at least he didn't pull an Andre Smith.
