Saturday's game is a huge game for both Mizzou and K-State. I'm talking John Goodman the day after Thanksgiving huge. Mizzou needs a solid road win and becomes bowl eligible, and K-State can get that 7th win they need to become bowl eligible and continue their lead in the B12N. So, what happens?
- I've got to admit, I'm impressed by the Wildcats. I had them slated to go 0'fer in the B12. Yeah, I was a little bit off. Still, they don't have an overly impressive win. Actually, their most impressive game was probably the L they got against Oklahoma, which is looking a little less impressive after the Sooners game last week. Regardless, K-State has got the wins, and that's all that counts.
- I don't understand the thought process going on with some people in this game. Yes, K-State can run the ball. Mizzou is actually a pretty stout rushind D. Sure, our secondary is terrible. Actually, they are fucking awful. K-State, though? They can't pass the Swine Flu on. They are piss poor at that.
- Flip side- Blaine Gabbert is en fuego the last couple of games. 460+ yards against Baylor, even being on his back more than a cheerleader on prom night. K-State's passing D is 9th in the B12, allowing 235yds a game on average. K-State's rush D is pretty good (just ranked lower than Mizzou's), but we haven't been able to rush the ball consistently anyway.
- So to recap: Mizzou's passing game should be able to have a hey-day. Everything else, statistically speaking, is basically a wash.
- Going with the mentality that Mizzou has a good shot to pass on the Cats, Blaine Gabbert can't make mistakes. Yeah, broken record. He had a solid game last week, and he kept Mizzou in it until the end. He can win this for Mizzou again.
- Mizzou MUST stop the kick returns. This is key. If K-State has a short field time after time on a questionable D, it will make this an easy day for the Cats. Of course, if they are grabbing kick off returns, Mizzou is putting points on the board, so, you know, let's see a lot of KSU return attempts.
- Derrick Washington can run the ball. We've seen it before. Hopefully, our OLine refers back to the Colorado game, and all backs can go off.
- Daniel Thomas is a stud for the Mildcats Wildcats. Stopping him at the line of scrimmage is going to be big for the Tigers. Yeah, I'm Captain Obvious. He is the K-State offense. Grant Gregory is allergic to throwing the ball (biggest day was 206yds), so the Cats rely on Thomas to be the Party Starter.
The Tigers have a chip on their shoulder, and I wouldn't doubt this team at all. Like I mentioned, I don't understand the thinking of some piss poor Mizzou fans that the Tigers don't have a shot in Manhattan. Yes, Bill Snyder has never lost to Gary Pinkel, but he hasn't played Mizzou in years and this is still Ron Prince's team for the most part. Blaine Gabbert should have a repeat performance from last week, with a big day from DaNario Alexander. Hopefully he can get the ball spread around more to Wes Kemp and Jared Perry throws some extra Stick'em on for this one. I'm going to agree with Rock M Nation's BTBS preview on this one and go with the exact same score with Mizzou winning 28-21 (yeah, I'm a douche). Victory Whiskey all around, my friends.
You can listen to the game on KMBZ.com, peep the RMN live thread, and yes, I will post TV links tomorrow for us without Versus (looking at you DirecTv).
