First and foremost I want to personally congratulate Joe Davis on winning this year’s kUchebag of the Year Award. A lot of awards are given out nowadays to people that flat out just don’t deserve them. But Joe, you can honestly tell everyone that you earned this one.

Now before we go into full-fledged Beast Mode for Hate Week (who are we kidding, we’re already there) we have Saturday’s wrap-up to deal with. Solid win for the Tigers. It wasn’t spectacular. The first half was a little rough. But ya know what? I thought Mizzou played pretty damn well. They stayed composed. They weren’t rattled by the boo birds at the end of the first half and they came out on fire in the second half. Very solid team effort.

-Randy Moss, I mean Danario Alexander was spectacular as usual. The play where he completely outran the Iowa State secondary even though they had the angle on him was very Maclin-esque. Right before that play I was talking to my buddies about how when ‘Nario runs it usually doesn’t look like he’s moving that fast but he just covers a ton of ground because of his long stride. Well on that play he looked like he was moving fast. I’m gonna miss that guy.

-I heard Mike Kelly called ‘Nario the “greatest wide receiver in Missouri history” after that play. Not sure if he actually said that or not but as good as ‘Nario is I’d still have to argue that Maclin was better. Maclin could kill you in so many different ways and he put up numbers comparable to Danario’s even though the offense was much more loaded than it is now. But if Alexander can stay healthy I think he’s got a shot at having a better pro career. Whoever ends up with him might have the steal of the draft.

-When is the last time the Tigers got interceptions from two different defensive backs in the same game? How about two corner backs? Props to the secondary. They had one of their better games of the year I thought.

-Really sucked to see D-Wash go out with a concussion because he was looking great. I think it was Rock M that tweeted during the game that he looked his best since the ’08 Illinois game. I can’t disagree. The good news is it sounds like he should be fine for the Border War.

-For the first time I’m finally starting to feel like Jerrell Jackson has what it takes to be a serious weapon in this offense. In fact, I’m gonna go ahead and award him this week’s Shakespeare’s Pizza Playa of the Game. You hate seeing Jared Perry go out but that could end up being a type of blessing in the long run if it helps us develop some receiver depth.

-What would Blaine Gabbert’s numbers look like if he hadn’t had to play the better part of three games literally on one foot? Seriously. That deep bomb to Jackson could not have been placed more perfectly. And that was the kind of throw that Chase Daniel physically could not make.

-I mentioned it earlier, but thanks to this year’s seniors. This group wasn’t quite as distinguished as last year’s (or even ‘07’s for that matter) but it would have been difficult to duplicate the success of the past few years without them. It should also be mentioned that they were instrumental in keeping the train rolling in the first post-Daniel season.

-I’ve yet to weigh in on the Mangino saga over in Larryville but be patient. I’ll have an extensive post on that up in the next couple days. After all, it is Hate Week.

-One quick non-football post, I made it out to the basketball game on Sunday and was pretty pumped by what I saw. I’m starting to think Laurence Bowers might have a shot at all-conference honors this season. More on that later in the week.

-And to close, fuck kU. Happy Hate Week everyone.
