I'm not saying Gary Pinkel's an elite coach. I think he's solid. He has his strengths. He has his weaknesses. But the guy is a class act. Considering all the shit that's going down in beakerland it's great to see pics like this of our coach.

I'll have my Post-game Thoughts post up in the next couple days. But real quick I just wanted to thank our seniors. We've had some good times with these guys. With Spoon, 'Nario, Perry, Gregory and Baston graduating that leaves only one key contributor (Carl Gettis) from the magical '07 team. It's been fun, fellas. Thank you.

I agree that we could have a much worse coach situation and despite my frustration at times with play calling, not putting a QB under center enough, etc he is a good college coach that keeps kids lives #1!

I have not been a Pinkel fan but mostly because of his assistants lack of talent. Since the death of a player several years ago I believe that he does understand that their are more important things in the world than football (and I as an old football coach has also come to figure that out). Consider what other institutions have as coaches (Michigan-I don't care about the rules, practice till you drop), those other state universities to our west (let me smack you around and oh I know I hired you but now you are fired because I want to coach again and bring in Juco kids who are great players but little short on the academics) Pinkel is a breath of fresh clean air.

@PappaR: Not that you're saying it (or even implying it), but with your assumption about the assistants and the fact that GP keeps them all, it's impossible to think that GP isn't a loyal guy to coaches along with players. That is another breath of fresh air. Most a-coaches are going year-to-year with different gigs.
