When Friday kicks off with an unofficial drinking holiday (isn't it every Halloween weekend), you know you're going to have a long weekend. Throw in a 25hr day, and it is pretty sweet to be able to celebrate a win instead of a loss. Makes that Victory Whiskey coming back up a little smoother. How'd the 36-17 Tiger curb-stomp happen?
- DaNario Alexander is the man. Eight balls, 123yds, and two to the house. Any way to get him about nine more years of eligibility? If not, can the Bears sign him now, please? Another great game by a guy that nobody has been able to cover in eight games this season.
- DWash and the OLine had GREAT games. I'm convinced our rushing problems began with our OLine, with DWash, De'Vion Moore, and Kendial shouldering about 10% of the blame. Not Saturday. You have to give props to the coaches, OLine, and backs for making adjustments beginning against Okie State. Those adjustments came against the top two teams in the conference, and began to work. Against Colorado, which, let's be honest, isn't close to the Pokes or Horns, the adjustments worked. Props all around.
- It's a shame Jerrell Jackson wasn't in JFK's limo. He probably would have caught the bullet before it blew off JFK's head. Hell of a catch in the 1st half. One of the best I've ever seen.
- Sean Weatherspoon was in on every play. Sacks, TFLs, pileups...he was there. 12 tackles for Spoon, including a 4th down stand to put the Buffs out of their misery.
- Aldon Smith is going to be an All-American candidate next year. Guy can just ball. Five tackles, including three for sacks. Over the past two games, he's had five sacks. Yeah, he's pretty damn good.
- Overall, great game called by Old John Cena...err...Dave Steckel. Eight (8!!) sacks according to the game stats. Only 10 defensive points given up as well. That should get you a 'W' every week. TigerBoard promptly took down their 'Fire Steck' banner.
- Tyler Hansen will be one of the better B12 QBs if his OLine had more power than saranwrap.
- Scotty McKnight still caught nine balls for 104. Our secondary still has weak links. Maybe it's the cushions, but if you're going to cover like this, COVER THE DAMN RECEIVER. Zone or man-to-man, just get the job done. I'm tired of this shit. Good coverage in the endzone as Tyler Hansen tried to go deep ball after ball, so at least that worked. I'll end this on a positive.
- If Blaine is going to make a mistake or two, have it be in a game like this. That pick-six was ugly and let the Buffs have a heartbeat, but other than that, a pretty soild game. I know the Buffs had two picks, and Blaine threw a couple others that could have been going the other way, but he is improving. It was nice to see him not limp like House after every play either.
- Zavier Gooden has the power of AO. Nice way to wear the jersey. Zavier had a great game. I like him more at LB than I do in the secondary, especially with Spoon leaving after this year. Ebner, Gooden, Lambert, and Gachkar for next year. Hold on, I have to clean up my drool.
Your Shakespeare's Pizza Playa of the Game has to be Aldon Smith and Sean Weatherspoon. I know, the defensive side of the ball gets the pizza after a 19 point win? You are correct. Three sacks by Aldon, and 12 tackles including the killer on 4th down for Spoon, how could you go with anyone else?
A non-TV game against Baylor next week, but I'm sure we'll find some online linkage for your hacking. Podcast tomorrow, so continue your Victory Whiskey.
