Maybe you're a baseball nerd like I am. Maybe not. Either way, I'm fairly sure you've heard the story of former Tiger hurler Aaron Crow. From killing it at Mizzou, being drafted by the piss-poor Washington Nationals, being the only 1st rounder in '08 not to sign or get the contract he wanted and deciding to go play Indy ball with Fort Worth, then getting picked by his boyhood team, the Kansas City Royals, and finally signing, again, later than everyone else. The coincidence is, current Royals pitcher, Luke Hochevar did the same thing and it paid off by getting picked #1 overall by the Royals (actually played for F-W as well).
Crow is a big time pitching prospect, and was invited to the Arizona Fall League, which teams send a few of their elite prospects to play so they aren't dicking around all fall/winter. It's a league where you have guys going anywhere from rookie ball to already in the Show...basically, the prospects can be anywhere in the system.
And Crow showed up.
In two games, he went a total of 7.1 innings with an 0-1 record, six earned runs (7.36 ERA), and batters hit at a .310 clip against him.
I guess it should be pointed out that Aaron Crow hadn't pitched against huge talent since leaving Mizzou in the spring of '08, so the hitters had an advantage, but the couple of starts that Aaron had didn't end well. He should, still, have an outside shot to get some PT from the Royals if he has a solid winter and gets his arm back in shape, and Baseball America has him as a fast track prospect to the Show.
