As you’ve heard, we have decided to close shop here at the Mizzourah offices. This is a sad day for everyone but hopefully we can take some time to look back and remember all the good times we’ve shared over the past couple years.
For some reason unbeknownst to me, many of you have enjoyed my, Big Head’s and Fastidious Hat’s perspective on all things Mizzou Tigers. Maybe you find us amusing (possible). Maybe you find our take enlightening (doubtful). Or maybe you just read hoping we’ll randomly throw up that pic of Jessica Biel’s ass (probable).
But in all seriousness, putting this blog together has been one of the most enjoyable undertakings I’ve ever been apart of. When I first started blogging in January of ’08 it was for a journalism class at MU. The following summer Big Head invited me to join up with him at this little outfit.
From the beginning I tried to bring the student’s perspective to this blog. I strived to capture what it was like cheering the team on from the student section. But in May I graduated from Mizzou. Because of a few buddies who were on campus an extra semester I was able to obtain student tickets for this football season. But now it looks like those days are a thing of the past.
Since graduation it’s become progressively harder to get posts put together on a consistent basis. This blog has exploded over the past couple years but I don’t think any of us want to coast. That’s why we’re calling it quits.
But man, what a run we had. When I first started writing for the site I never thought I would last as long as I did. But it was intoxicating. What started out as something I did to get a decent grade evolved into something I continued to keep my writing sharp and eventually transformed into and endeavor I not only took seriously but worked at with passion and enthusiasm.
Originally I would post the first thing that popped into my head about what was going on with Tiger athletics. Over time I found myself taking notes during games so I wouldn’t forget to post it on here. I would stay up late writing Post-Game Thoughts posts even on nights before morning exams.
When the basketball team ran Memphis off the floor last March during Spring Break I even made a post from Acapulco, Mexico. Being a Mizzourah blogger I felt obligated to do so. But I also couldn’t wait to share my thoughts with you guys and to hear what you had to say as well.
A couple weeks ago I took a look back at some of my more memorable posts. The football team’s win in Lincoln. The basketball team’s dramatic victories over kU and Oklahoma. Even the gut-wrenching loss in Armageddon II. I plan on printing off all of those posts and the comments from them and keeping them as a memento. Mizzourah became part of my college experience and it’s something I’ll always treasure. You were all part of that. Thank you.
Thanks to the readers. Especially the regular commenters. Some of you I’ve gotten into some heated debates with on multiple occasions. But many times you’ve changed my perspective on things believe it or not. You guys are awesome.
Thanks to our buddies at Rock M. It’s been fantastic having a friendly relationship with the guys who I guess were technically our rivals. As long as they’re around you won’t be without an incredible Mizzou blog to read.
Thanks to the kUchebags. Our most popular regular feature wouldn’t have been possible without you. You’ve provided me with many a self-esteem boost when I would see your pics and thank my luck stars that I’m not you. (Special thanks to Joe Davis. My all-time favorite kUchebag and the first and last winner of the prestigious Mizzourah kUchebag of the Year Award.)
Thanks to Big Head and Hat for letting me be part of the Mizzourah team. I feel like I made a couple of friends I wouldn’t have known otherwise. Even if we’ve never met outside of the blogosphere.
And most of all, thanks to the athletes and coaches at Mizzou who have made the last few years one of the most successful runs in the athletic department’s history. Coincidentally that made this whole blogging thing a whole helluva lot more fun to do. Keep it goin’ fellas.
MIZZOURAH.
Thanks,
Morgan
